brave julius

For the teen-aged Glenn Alexander, guitar was an addiction quickly adopted. He took a largely self-taught approach to his craft, pursuing music with sharply focused curiosity and deft natural skill. Influenced by artists from Michael Hedges to Radiohead, Alexander explored a mesh of looped composition and improvisation rooted around his Martin acoustic. Homemade recordings of these explorations became the bedrock for Brave Julius, his first foray into collaborative work which fleshes out his nascent compositions in clever and often startling ways. This album represents his first full-fledged foray into the out-of- home studio environment, the result of which is not only the peak of an ever-growing repertoire of original work but proof that every end is a new beginning.
